Q: After sitting unused (and on) awhile, the AT will not hard cycle. When I turn the power off and back on ... It just sits there with a blank screen. It only does something when I push the wake up button. It then sticks at the IP-Static message. Any ideas?
A: - When I turn the power off and back on ... it just sits there with a blank screen. *** That's normal
- It only does something when I push the wake up button *** Again, normal
- then sticks at the IP-Static message *** If it's been awhile, the PC has probably changed IP address since the last use. The AT now can't find it.
Usual causes of changed IP: 1. The PC uses the internet WAN address (ie, no router or firewall) and it has been off for a while. You lose your IP lease and get a new IP on the next boot.
2. You have a cable router or firewall and it has rebooted/restarted and handed out a different LAN IP this time. ie, PC1 was xxx.100 PC2 was xxx.101 last week but now PC1 is off and the router gives xxx.100 to PC2 (the PC the AT is looking at).
The solution: Get on the target PC and run the AT web page setup. Go to the IP page and alter the IP to match the target PC. Use winipconfig to read that IP. Hard reboot the AT and now it should find the PC.
