Error: "Access Denied" local security policy issue - Win 2k Server
I love my AudioTron. I quickly hooked it up to shares on my wife's Windows
2000 laptop and my Windows 2003 laptop. Later, I tried to hook up a share on
our big Windows 2000 file server. I kept having problem. The AT would report
Share access denied. The Windows security log showed bad password. I tried
several other computers, with no problems.

I tried everything I could think of, including everything I could find in
your knowledge base. Nothing worked on this one server, but I kept at it
because our main music library is on its RAID drives. Eventually, I found
the solution.

I had to change a local security policy. The policy is
"LAN Manager Authentication Level"
and it's in the "Security Options" folder of "Local Policies". The setting
that works for me is "Send NTLM response only". I am not sure why that one
machine wound up with a different setting than all the other machines in the
house.

It would have saved me time if this was in your KB, so I'm sending you this
note in hopes it will save someone else some troubles.
