Linux - Samba - Private Share issue
Q. I just upgraded to new Firmware 2.9.2 without problems. But now I cannot
access my linux share any more. I entered the same username and password
as I used before, after a reset to factory defaults. I manually set up
a single share LINUXmusic.

Which of the password / username are used for linux?
The 9x/Me or the NT/2000/XP combination?

A. You can set up your samba server to use either of the Win9x (share
level) or WinNT (user level) authentication models. So, the setting
in your AudioTron depends on if you have security=share or security=user
in your smb.conf.

As of Firmware 2.9.2 the AT cannot access music files in a private
share and it will ignore them. It requires encrypted passwords enabled!

EXPLANATION:
While the AudioTron was looking at 'private' shares, a hang-up was
occurring because the AT would endlessly try and validate that share.
This would happen in the following scenario:

If we access a "private" samba share that:
* We have a valid user ID on the box
* But not for the given share

SOLUTION:
You would need to setup your samba server to use encrypted passwords too.
So you need to add the line:
encrypt passwords = yes
to the global section of smb.conf
Then you need to add the user that accesses shares to the smbpasswd file
using the command:
smbpasswd -a atron

As of Firmware 2.9.5 the AudioTron handles both types of server setups:
encrypted and plain text password.

NOTE:
As a reminder, we do not support any networking or configuration issues
other than Windows.
