Video Advantage USB - FAQs

Burning a Movie File (mpeg) to a DVD
Q: I just went to burn to DVD an analogue capture from a good VHS tape that
was 2:07 long. When I opened Power Producer Express, I had to select Long
Play to get it on the DVD. The video is not as good as the original VHS
tape.

What I used to do with my ATI AIW 8500 was capture it and author to
a video file than put it through my Shrink program. I tried and the
components of the video file are in a program that my computer doesn't
recognize. Are there any other capture programs that will allow me to do
what I want?

A: There are 3 modes of burning in Power Director:
High Quality 60 mins
Standard Quality 120 mins
Long Play 180 mins.
Your capture is 2:07 long, which means you will need to use Long Play 180
mins (as you already know). If you have a burner that supports dual layer
burning and a dual layer DVD disc, then you can double these times for
each, enabling you to burn a 2:07 capture using higher quality settings.

As for the 'shrinking' you could edit the capture to make it smaller than
2 hours. You could edit out the 'intro' and or the end credits of the
movie. Sorry, we are not aware of any other programs that can do what you
want.
