USB MIDI Cable - FAQs

Installing USB MIDI Cable
The Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000 Pro driver is a universal Driver
for all Operating Systems. It is posted on our Web Site at this direct link:
ftp://ftp.turtlebeach.com/pub/tbs/usbmidi/usbvmidi.exe

****

IMPORTANT!
You must run the driver installation FIRST, BEFORE actually plugging in
the USB MIDI cable. You should NOT plug in the cable until asked to do so
during the driver installation.

*****

1. Insert the CD in your CD-ROM drive and after Windows detects the CD,
a splash screen will appear. If the CD is not automatically detected,
you can manually start the installation screen by selecting Start > Run
from Windows. When the Run dialog box appears, enter the letter name of
the CD-ROM drive followed by setup. For example, if your CD-ROM drive
letter is d: type d:setup

2. Click on "Setup USB Music Studio Kit" and then "Install Turtle Beach USB
MIDI Cable 1x1" to begin the installation and follow the on screen
instructions.

IMPORTANT! You may see a message explaining that the software has not
passed Windows Logo testing or does not have a Digital
Signature. This means that we have not had Microsoft test
our current driver version and certify it as Windows Logo
compliant. However, the driver and software have undergone
extensive testing under all supported operating systems so
you can safely proceed by clicking "Continue Anyway" or "Yes"
(depending on the operating system). This will NOT make your
system unstable.

3. When you are prompted by the installation to plug in your USB MIDI Device,
you should insert the square USB connector into any available USB port on
your computer.
Windows 98 users: You may be required to install additional
files from your Windows 98 CD.

4. Once the device is detected, the Turtle Beach logo in the system tray
will change to two green lights that show MIDI data going through your
USB MIDI Cable. If for some reason the device is not detected, make sure
that the cable is firmly plugged in and run the SoundCheck diagnostic
application when prompted.

5. Now connect the MIDI connectors to your keyboard (or other controller)
as follows:

If you are using a MIDI keyboard, the MIDI In cable should be connected
to the MIDI Out on the keyboard and the MIDI Out cable to the MIDI In on
the keyboard. If you are using a device that is only a controller (i.e.
doesn't make any sounds itself), you will connect only the MIDI In cable
to the MIDI Out on the controller. The MIDI Out cable will not be
attached to anything.

6. To test your USB MIDI cable, click on the USB MIDI status icon and select
"SoundCheck."
NOTE: Except when specifically prompted by SoundCheck, it is highly
recommended that you do not remove or insert the MIDI cable while
SoundCheck or other MIDI software (such as Record Producer MIDI
Edition) is running.
