The HPX series of headphones are not *Retail* products. They were put together as a courtesy, as combo packages using the HPA2 headset with various cable configurations to accommodate different applications as requested by
"Advanced Competitive Gamers". This is why they are packaged in a plain white
box and they are not available in Canada or in Europe. They are available only
directly from us the manufacturer for a limited time while supplies last for
US distribution only.
The HPX-1 takes the same headset as comes in the HPA2, but couples it with a special adapter cable that allows you to use it with the Astro A40 MixAmp. The Astro Mixamp employs Dolby Headphone encoding to play back the surround sound field in standard (stereo) headphones. The MixAmp also provides the interface between the headset's microphone and Xbox Live. In the end, the HPX-1 is essentially an upgrade to the stock Astro headset.
NOTE: The HPX headset can only be used with the Xbox 360 if you are already using the MixAmp from Astro. If you will not be using one of those, we recommend our X11, X31 or X41 headsets for Xbox 360.
Q: Is there a Mic Mute button on the HPX-1 cable?
A: There is no Mute switch on this cable. This is a competition headset and it does not offer features like this. The A40 Astro MixAmp does not offer such a control either.
Q: Does the Turtle beach HPX work for the xbox 360? And if it does would it be a good professional headset to use for MLG's Gamebattles? Also if it is a good helmet for the xbox 360 then does it come with everything I need?
A: The HPX headset can only be used with the Xbox 360 if you are already using the MixAmp from Astro. If you will not be using one of those, we recommend our X11, X31 or X41 headsets for Xbox 360.
