If you don’t have an XP500 then don’t even try to call yourself an XBox fan, because you’re missing out on the end-all be-all XBox gaming experience. The XP500 is optimized for the XBox 360 and its slate of all-star exclusives, so settling for anything less is like ordering mashed potatoes without the gravy – if gravy had surround sound.

The Ear Force XP500 lets you customize the way game, chat, and mic sounds are processed. You can configure each preset with different settings to enhance specific parts of the sound.
With the press of a button, you can completely change your sound environment and hear sound cues you’d normally miss. For instance, you can isolate the sound of footsteps in the distance while gunshots are blasting all around you or hear the clink of a bullet shell falling on the floor. By adjusting the way sounds are processed, you can choose what’s important and react faster. The XP500 also reduces ear fatigue with its unique Ear Guard feature that automatically controls the volume of extremely loud sounds, like explosions, without affecting other sounds in the game. You can play longer without having to turn it down for the occasional blasts of explosions and gun shots.
Presets give you a huge competitive advantage by allowing you to hone in on sounds your enemies can’t even hear, making sure communication with your team is crystal-clear and filtering out distracting noises that can overwhelm your concentration.

Game presets change the way the headset processes game sounds, so you can tune in to the important sounds at critical parts of the game. For example, if you're having a hard time hearing footsteps while playing your favorite FPS, just load up a preset that makes footsteps louder and you can suddenly hear them over loud gunfire and explosions, just as if you had super human hearing.
Chat presets manipulate the voices from XBOX Live and PlayStation Network chat. Have a teammate or friend who's always huffing and puffing into the mic? Just load up a preset that kills off really quiet chat sounds so you don't have to listen to the breathing. You could use a chat preset to limit burst volume if you've got a friend prone to victory-yelling. Or, load the Chat Boost preset if you can't hear your teammates over the roar of loud game blasts.
Mic presets let you change the way others hear your voice. If you're playing in a room with a lot of ambient sounds, you can quiet things down by using a preset that shuts off the mic when you aren't talking. You can also have fun with the Voice Morphing feature which can make you sound like a monster, a chipmunk or anything in-between.
